P.U.H.S.D

So what is PUHSD you ask...it's what I go through in late winter ever year. Post Upland Hunting Season Depression. It's this time of year when the days are still short and you still have the urge to beating the brush in search of upland game. It's when my wife wishes I was still hunting because she hates my mood swings when it comes to the time of year. This year I'm avoiding the big gap in emotion by filling the void with training and planning for next fall.
With two FBESS in my line up there is no shortage of training. I don't use and e-collar(we'll save that discussion for later) so I have to go that extra step every time I decided to train or drill with my girls. To each is own and I would not have it any other way!

SO for the last three weeks I've been concentrating on training Abby, our 1 1/2 year old FBESS. I've been in no rush to get Abby on birds. She's an explosive talent that I knew I had to take it slow. With limited time and resources rushing a young dog can make irreversible mistakes. So doing it right the first time is priority. I plan to trail Abby this fall and that will take all the time and resources I have.

As I move forward with Abby there is still plenty of training to do with Mia. So with double the training load takes twice as much dedication. As along as the girls are ready well then so I am I!!

I'll report from time to time on their progress.
til next time.........
