To Trial

Last Saturday I went to the Northern Colorado Springer Spaniel Club's spring field trial. I'm planning to enter Abby in our first trial this fall and I figure any exposure to this game would be helpful. We have a ton of work ahead of us but I'm ready for the challenge! Which reminds me that I should have made a trip to park for some drills but tomorrow is another day with better cover ahead of us.

While there are many breed specific trails for hunting dogs but I'm sightly partial to spaniel trails. Besides the fact that I have two ESS's, I believe the simple fact of be able to watch the dogs work at a close distance makes this type of trial a true spectator sport.

I only knew one handler, Tim DeGroff, in the open division. Tim didn't place in this trial but I did some great work from his dogs.

Here are a few pictures from the day.
